World’s Tallest Building: which, one is and one is to be

Records statics of any structures differentiate it from others. While it’s about Highest one in present there is the one and only one skyscraper Bhurj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Bhurj is the only one of its type man made structure having highest point 829.8 m (2,722 ft) with 163 floors completed in 2010 and listed as tallest one. But soon Bhurj is going to be a history in record of tallest one. 

KINGDOM TOWER Saudi Arabia height 1000 m (3,300 ft) with 156 floors will be completed in 2019, soon which will be the tallest one. China’s SKY CITY  838 m (2,749 ft) a prefabricated structure to be constructed in 90 days and MIAPOLIS proposed skyscraper in Miami Florida 975 m (3,200ft), will also become taller then Bhurj. How to classify buildings in this category 

Any structure which is to be classified as highest building may be further categoriesed as :

• Highest point of the building.
• Height of highest floor.
• Height of highest roof.
• Height of structural top of building.

As according to above different criteria’s, Bhurj Khalifa is the tallest one excepting roof. At the time, while categorizing buildings  it is necessary that building must be completed or topped out.

Building as records

Bhurj Khalifa is the tallest man made skyscrapers till now while not considering proposed or under construction buildings. Bhurj khalifa Dubai, is a fantastic skyscraper having 163 floors with top at 829.8 m. Construction period of bhurj was from January 2004-2010 with a cost of USD $ 1.5 Billion. Existence of such a structure makes the city recognized and remarkable. During construction of bhurj highest verticalconcrete pumping was used.

Different record heights of bhurj are -

• Highest point of the building- 829.8 m
• Height of highest roof- 828 m
• Height of structural top of building- 829.8 m

 Kingdom Tower is a under construction skyscraper which will be ranked as the tallest building of world when completed. Kingdom tower is in Jeddah Saudi Arabia which was prior named as Mile- High Tower which is completed with a cost of USD $ 1.23 billion. The Tower was named mile-high tower due to its prior planned height of 1.6 km or 1 mile, but the geological condition was not favorable over there. Construction of Kingdom Tower was started on 1^st April 2013 while completion is estimated in 2019. The plot of this tower is over 50 hectares which includes other buildings and a waterfront. This tower will have 167 floors. Tower is provided with a glass floored sky terrace which will give a awesome view of Red sea in front of it. 

Construction period is estimated as five years and three months may be extended to seven years as time taken for bhurj was six years.

Both of above structures are good and having their own records. But China has announced their structure officially named as SKY CITY, which is to be 838m and to be constructed in 90 days period only. The fact is more surprising until you don’t know that structure will be prefabricated. The construction period is not including 120 days of prefabrication of parts off-site.if built according to schedule before Kingdom Tower then SKY CITY will be the tallest building of the world having 202 floors at a total height of 838m.

According to plan the 95% prefabricated parts of building will be assembled in factory before any work starts at construction site. Hence prefabrication will take approx. six months before starting the construction. For its assembly consumption of 270,000 tons of steel is estimated. Four layered glass will be used on building which will keep a constant temperature between 20 to 27 °C inside building. Bulding so erected will be able to resist magnitude 9 earthquake as announced by special authorities of board sustainable building corporation.  

 After all above we have the MIAPOLIS skyscraper in Miami Florida, a proposed skyscraper with 975m height and 160 floors. If approved, constructed and completed then it will be taller then Bhurj Khalifa even tallest one in world till completion of Kingdom Tower. Miapolis is a skyscraper which is a LEED(Leadership in Energy and environment Design) certified tower.
