IS CODE 456:2000 is the code required for designing of structures in RCC with limit state method. IS CODE 456:2000 is an code of practice from Indian Standard, which is used for both PCC(Plain Concrete cement) and RCC(Reinforced Concrete Cement).

The Latest version of this code arrived in market in 2000 which was further updated in 2005.This standard code provides knowledge about general materials used, method of construction, framework, and specially prefixed design values of some standard materials as aggregates, reinforcement, cement etc.

First time this code was published in 1953 and subsequently revised in 1957, 1964, 1978, 2000, 2005. The revision took place in 2000 with broad changes in earlier one while it was revised in 2005 with minor changes.

IS CODE 456:2000 is further divided into five sections and eight annexes. These sections are as -

2.    Material, workmanship, inspection and testing.

3.    General design consideration.

4.    Special Design Requirement.

5.    Structural Design(Limit State Method).
