to create.
The
cable stayed bridge Millau Viaduct situated in France is the one of wonderful
creativities in the world which is the tallest bridge ever that spans between
the valley of river Tarn near Millau in southern France.
History
Behind the Creation……………………
Traffic
problems on the route from Paris to Spain
along a stretch passing through the valley of river tarn, was considered the
reason of many problems while the roads got jammed by holiday traffic. Focusing
on this problem in 1987 CETE discussed and government consulted seven
architects and eight structural engineers. Finally jury decided to
construct a cable stayed bridge.
The bridge so
constructed costs up to 394 million Euros(€), 127000 cubic meters of concrete,
19000 tonnes of steel reinforcement and 5000 tonnes of steel for pre-stressed
steel for cables and shrouds.

- June 2002: Start of work on piers.
- 25 February 2003: Laying of First Piece of Roadway.

- The highest pylons in the world: P2 244.96 meters (803 ft 8 inches) and P3 221.05 meters(725 ft 3 inches).
- The highest bridge tower in the world: mast at top of pylon P2 peaks at 343 meters (1,125 ft), which is higher than Eiffel tower.
- The highest road deck in Europe: 270 meters (890 ft) above Tarn River at its highest point.

After
