Introducing
The Atlantic Ocean road was opened on July 7, 1989. The Atlantic road is an 8.3

and Molde. This road is a National tourist route and also rewarded as the “Norway’s Construction of the Century of 2005”.
This route was actually made for a railway line but this was cancelled. The planning
of the road was carried out from 1970 and construction was started on 1 August,
1983.
The
zigzag Atlantic road has low bridges just over the sea. This road has eight
bridges, biggest one them all is named as Storseisundet Bridge. This bridge is a cantilever bridge
over the sea. The whole span of the bridge is 260 meters (850 ft) having the
longest span of 130 meters (430 ft). This bridge is having a maximum clearance
over sea of 23 meters (75 ft).
While
travelling on this road the sense of closeness to the natural forces as well as
the ocean are at its most intense. This road connects following viewports to each
other –
- Askevagen

At
the time of construction, the area was hit by 12 tropical cyclones. This road
is provided with 6.5 meters (21 ft) width and a maximum gradient of 8%.
In
2009 this road was Norway’s ninth most visited natural tourist attraction with
258,654 tourist visitors from May to August. On 19 December, 2009 the Atlantic Ocean
tunnel is also opened which is the second route for same places.
