WHAT IS A GREEN BUILDING….???
Definitions may vary person to
person but while talking about meaning the things looks similar. A GREEN BUILDING is a structure which
refers to be of low cost and efficient use of natural resources during construction,
operation, maintenance, renovation even till demolition. Such a building
generates lesser waste and conserves the natural resources at the
same time providing the healthy and hygienic space to the users.
An
ideal green building may be the one which will be a net producer and exporter
of resources, materials, energy, water rather than being a net consumer as the
general buildings. If designing a green building project the objectives related
to concern of economy, utility, durability and comfort must be considered. The
green building projects does not cost very much. It may be same or slightly
more as the general building by proper mixing of high cost and low cost green
strategies and technologies.
The green buildings are designed for minimizing
the impact of the building over occupants (human beings) and natural
environment by efficiently using the
resources (Energy, water etc.), protecting
the health of residents, reducing
the waste and pollution.

When
discussing the basic features of green building all of the good properties of
the building are considered. These features are as -:
- Effective control and building management system.
- Efficient use of water and water recycling.
- Use of renewable energy.
- Use of energy efficient and eco-friendly equipments.
- Use of recyclable/recycled materials.
- Minimum disturbance to landscape and site conditions.
